At the Global South Forum, we welcome submissions from a diverse range of contributors, including researchers, academics, students, journalists, activists, and professionals with insightful perspectives on the politics, culture, history, economy, international relations, and society of The Global South. Submissions from serving politicians or government officials are generally not accepted, except when responding to previously published content on our platform. Additionally, pitches from public relation firms or lobbyists will not be considered.
To submit your article, please send it as a Microsoft Word document using the form below. Along with your article, include the following:
A photo of yourself in jpg format.
Your full name and a brief biography.
Your affiliation or organizational details (if applicable).
We will review your submission and aim to respond within 2–3 working days to confirm whether your article aligns with our editorial goals. If your article is not selected, it may be due to current priorities or resource limitations rather than a lack of merit. Unfortunately, we cannot provide detailed feedback on all declined submissions.
Currently, the Global South Forum is unable to provide financial compensation for contributions.
Submissions should typically range between 1,000 and 3,000 words. This length allows for a detailed exploration of topics while remaining accessible to readers, many of whom engage with content on mobile devices.
We encourage submissions that combine analytical depth with clear, engaging prose. To ensure your piece resonates with our audience, consider the following tips:
1. Clarity and Structure: Avoid writing in the format of an academic journal article. Begin with your key argument and ensure smooth transitions between ideas without overly formal signposting (e.g., avoid phrases like 'this article will discuss').
2. Avoid Jargon: Use simple language and briefly explain any technical terms to accommodate non-specialist readers.
3. Data in Words: Rather than including tables or charts, explain data trends and insights clearly within the text.
4. Provide Context: Use hyperlinks to credible sources, data, or related work to provide additional context for readers.
5. Engage the Reader: Anchor your article in relevant research, current events, or public debates to demonstrate its significance.
6. Be Argumentative: Focus on presenting a clear, memorable argument. Your readers will value the perspective you offer more than just a collection of facts.
Global South Forum values fresh perspectives and thought-provoking analysis. Submissions should meaningfully contribute to public discourse, whether addressing regional politics, cultural trends, historical insights, or Southeast Asia’s role on the global stage.
When discussing uncertain trends or events, acknowledge ambiguities and explain their roots rather than relying on vague expressions. This approach enhances the credibility and impact of your analysis.
We look forward to receiving your submission and sharing your ideas with our audience!
